Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre Set to Become Key 2032 Olympic Venue

The City of Moreton Bay is set to receive a $205.5 million state-of-the-art sporting facility, which will serve as a key venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre project has been endorsed by the Australian and Queensland governments, with the Project Validation Report now complete and procurement ready to begin. The funding comes from the joint $1.87 billion Queensland-Commonwealth Minor Venues Program.

The facility will feature 12 multi-sport courts across two halls, accommodating basketball, netball, boxing, volleyball, badminton, futsal, wheelchair rugby, and pickleball. During the Games, it will have a capacity of 10,000 spectators.

Premier Steven Miles highlighted the project’s significance, saying, “Here in Moreton Bay, we are set to gain a brand new $205 million Indoor Sports Centre – bigger and better than originally planned.”

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery emphasized the centre’s long-term benefits. “The Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre will provide long-lasting benefits to our city and create a legacy that all residents can be proud of for decades to come,” he said.

Procurement begins in August, with construction scheduled between 2026 and 2028.
