MRL breeds beetles to battle weeds

MOOLOOLAH River Landcare’s summer bioagent beetle harvest is off to a strong start, with 17,800 Jewel Beetles and 900 Madeira Beetles collected so far this season.

The beetles play a vital role in controlling invasive environmental weeds, including Cats Claw Creeper and Madeira vine, across South East Queensland.

The success highlights the work of the biocontrol team and the organisation’s on-site biocontrol facility, where the beneficial beetles are bred.
