The dust has settled, and spirits are high as the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash dances its way into the record books once again. In an electrifying display of outback spirit and community, 6,248 festival-goers shattered the world record for the most people performing a Freeze Frame Dance, surpassing the previous record of 2,754 set at the Birdsville Big Red Bash in July.
Thousands of costume-clad Bashers transformed the iconic outback plains into a vibrant sea of colour and joy, from dinosaurs to Disney princesses. The event also saw an attempt to break the record for the most people performing the Nutbush Dance. While the 6,515 participants narrowly missed last year’s record of 6,594, their efforts still raised an incredible $97,725 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Festival Founder Greg Donovan celebrated the event’s success, stating, “This year’s Mundi Mundi Bash has been the biggest and best yet, with 14,000 people making the pilgrimage to the Plains.”
The festival also hosted a Mad Max Record Attempt, bringing 298 costumed fans together to honour the legacy of Tina Turner and the recently released blockbuster Furiosa, filmed at the Bash site in 2023.
