A NEW $24 million fuel and convenience travel centre has officially opened at Glass House Mountains, marking the completion of a major redevelopment on one of Queensland’s busiest highway corridors.
The Glass House Mountains Northbound travel centre, located near the Johnston Road intersection on the Bruce Highway, has been delivered by Dexus Convenience Retail REIT in partnership with Queensland-based De Luca Corporation, creating a full-service stop for thousands of motorists travelling between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast each day.
With more than 150,000 commuters passing the site daily, the upgraded facility includes a new Shell service station, OTR convenience store, expanded electric vehicle charging facilities and a range of food outlets including McDonald’s, KFC and Guzman y Gomez.
A Hungry Jack’s outlet is expected to open later this month, completing the centre’s planned tenant rollout.
DXC Fund Manager Pat De Maria said the opening represented a significant milestone for travellers, commuters and local residents who would use the facility every day.
“Glass House Mountains is precisely the kind of highway-centric, full-service asset that positions DXC well for the future,” he said.
De Luca Corporation Managing Director Nic De Luca said the project had been designed to meet the changing needs of motorists, including improved convenience, food options and EV charging infrastructure.
The redevelopment also incorporates sustainability measures including rooftop solar, rainwater harvesting and grey water reuse as part of a focus on future-ready design.
To mark the opening, motorists can access a 10 cents per litre fuel discount for the first four weeks through the OTR App, along with promotional offers across food and convenience products.
The new northbound facility follows the redevelopment of the site, while the existing southbound travel centre remains operational with plans for future upgrades continuing.
