New Fleet of Crime-Fighting SUVs for Queensland Police

Queensland Police will soon hit the road in style and safety, with 400 brand-new hybrid SUVs joining the state’s crime-fighting fleet. The Crisafulli Government today unveiled the RAV4s, which will replace ageing Toyota Camrys used by general duties officers.

Designed with frontline needs in mind, the new vehicles come equipped with upgraded safety features including custom-built driver protection screens, modern lockable weapon storage, and synchronised pursuit lightbars. The SUVs will also feature specialist lighting systems and a range of tech upgrades to better support police work on the move.

Police and Emergency Services Minister Dan Purdie confirmed the rollout will begin in the next three months, describing the RAV4s as “offices on wheels” that will boost officer safety and operational efficiency.

“Equipping police with modern tools helps keep both officers and communities safer,” Minister Purdie said.

The initiative is part of the broader Making Queensland Safer Laws, introduced last month to strengthen public safety across the state.

Painted in blue, silver, and white, the new fleet reflects the Crisafulli Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring frontline police have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.
