New vehicle for Twinnies

LANDSBOROUGH based icons Bridgette and Paula Powers from Twinnies Pelican & Seabird Rescue have received a major boost, with a $35,000 grant enabling the purchase of a brand-new rescue vehicle to support their avian rescue work.

The cheque was officially handed over on Tuesday May 13 by Member for Caloundra, Kendall Morton MP at the Twinnies Rescue headquarters on Steve Irwin Way.

The funding, provided by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, will allow the dedicated duo to respond more efficiently to emergencies involving injured seabirds and waterbirds.

The Twinnies – Bridgette and Paula Powers – have spent more than 25 years rehabilitating wildlife, operating 24/7 to care for hundreds of birds each year.

“I’m very proud to support this wonderful organisation,” said MP Kendall Morton at the event. “The passion and dedication Paula and Bridgette have for rescuing injured seabirds is truly inspiring.”

The new vehicle will significantly improve rescue response times.
