Peachester Garden Club’s wicking success

Contributed by Patricia Bradford

Last meeting was held in the garden of Len and Joyce Brown.

Had some lovely feedback from recipients of the wicking buckets. Three vehicles and trailers, loaded up with all the products needed to make the wicking buckets, arrived in Lismore on Friday, 1st July. It was raining again. The wicking buckets were assembled, filled with potting mix, planted up and donated to flood victims.

Many thanks to the Beerwah Co-op for their generous donation of potting mix.

Something of interest. Suella Lanceley talked about root-rot nematodes and her method of bio-fumigation by growing a mustard crop.

August meeting to be held in the Peachester Hall, Thursday 18th.

Guest speaker, Karen (pictured above), from the Forest Heart nursery in Maleny, will be talking about bush tucker plants and growing natives. There will be no competition bench, but please bring along prizes for the raffle and a small plate to share for morning tea.  There will be a small selection of bush tucker plants for sale. Will need a few members to arrive at 9am to help set up.

Visitors and new members always welcome. For more info ph 5496 9169.
