THE search is on for the perfect image to represent the Hinterland, with the Maleny Apex Club launching a competition to choose the cover photo for the 2026 Maleny Apex Directory.
For decades the popular directory has been a trusted source of local business and community information, with its cover traditionally showcasing local photography or artwork celebrating the region.
Maleny Apex spokesman Sam James said the club was inviting photographers to submit images capturing what makes the area special.
“We are looking for photos to be presented to go on the front cover of next year’s Directory,” Mr James said.
The winning entry will receive $300, with second prize awarded $200 and third prize $100. Entrants are asked to submit a copy of their photo along with a short story explaining where it was taken and why it is significant to them and the local community.
Mr James said the competition also highlighted the ongoing role Apex plays supporting the Hinterland through volunteer work, sponsorship and community programs.
Projects supported by Maleny Apex include the Maleny State High School Roadcraft driver education course, Apex Escapes weekends for families in need, youth gym programs, the Maleny Hospital Auxiliary, Maleny Neighbourhood Centre and grassroots sporting clubs.
“Sometimes the support is in the form of goods and sponsorship and sometimes it is people power,” Mr James said.
The club also assists families needing accommodation or transport for medical treatment and provides support for promising athletes.
Businesses interested in advertising in the directory can email ads@malenybusinessdirectory.com, while community groups or residents seeking support or membership information can contact Apex on 0476 808 447. Entries close May 29, 2026.
