A NEW exhibition on the pineapple industry will be officially opened at the Peachester Heritage Centre on Sunday 4 October.
Titled “The Taste of Summer”, it tells the story of the early days of pineapple farming in the Glasshouse Country district.
Additional photographs also represent more recent developments.
There is also a section on the way the pineapple motif has inspired design in so many aspects of our lives.
Thanks to several local farming families who have lent objects for the display, the Heritage Centre volunteers are pleased with the outcome, and invite anyone interested to join them on Sunday 4 October from 11.00am.
There will be a shared lunch featuring (of course) pineapple themed dishes; and the many photographs which did not fit in the exhibition will be on display.
The exhibition will be in place for some time, so you can also see it at the public open days on the fourth Sunday each month, or by appointment. Contact 0408 542 961.
