POLAIR set to expand operations

THE Crisafulli Government is boosting crime-fighting from the air, announcing a major expansion of POLAIR operations with extended coverage into the fast-growing Moreton Bay region.
Backed by $22.8 million over three years, the funding locks in a permanent, fully resourced POLAIR presence based on the Sunshine Coast. The investment will deliver upgraded aircraft equipment and permanently stationed, specially trained POLAIR Tactical Flight Officers.
Since January 1, 2025, the Sunshine Coast POLAIR base has already recorded 449 flights, responded to 133 urgent Code 1 and 2 calls in under 12 minutes, attended 82 domestic and family violence incidents, tracked 139 stolen vehicles and assisted in the arrest of 221 offenders.
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said the expansion would deliver safer communities, while Member for Caloundra Kendall Morton described it as a major win for local families.
