Crime statistics
TIME to look at some stats for the last month, in total there has been 134 offences detected in Beerwah Division. Some of these were multiple offences in relation to one incident, for example someone charged with drug driving may also be found to have possession of drugs or utensils so there could be two or three charges for one person at one time.
Of the 134 there are 48 offences categorized as ‘Other Theft’ (excl. Unlawful Entry). These offences are made up largely of stealing from shops, with at least half occurring at the highway service stations when people fail to pay for fuel.
There have been four unlawful use of motor vehicle (stealing cars) offences and another eight unlawful entry of vehicle (stealing from cars) offences. These offences can often be prevented by locking your car and securing your keys and ensuring that you don’t leave valuables in your vehicle.
