Probus: fellowship, friendship and fun

Contributed by John Gyzemyter

ON Wednesday March 23, the Club will hold the Annual General Meeting for 2022. In February, the Maleny Club celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Probus is a worldwide organisation for retired and semi-retired members of the community. Its primary aim is to provide the three ‘F’s – Fellowship, Friendship, Fun. Guest speakers are a main feature of the club.

An interesting list of guest speakers is planned for the coming months. At our February meeting we had the Caxton Legal Service who spoke about rights and obligations when considering moving into a retirement village.

At our AGM we will have Verena Olesch, general manager of the Maleny Botanic Gardens, as guest speaker.

For our April meeting we welcome guest speaker Victoria McGuin, editor of the Hinterland Times.

Our meetings are held every 4th Wednesday of the month at the Uniting Church, Maleny from 10am finishing around 12noon after a scrumptious morning tea provided by the wonderful ladies from the CWA.

Trips and outings are also a feature of the Club’s activities.

We currently have membership vacancies available so if you are interested in visiting or joining our group please contact our membership officer Diana Begbie on 0437 514 340 or
