Several Queensland manufacturers will exhibit for the first time at the Australasian Processing and Packaging Expo (APPEX) 2024, held from 12-15 March at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Among them is Weltrade Packaging, a Gold Coast-based manufacturer that received a $56,000 Queensland Government grant to upgrade equipment, creating four new jobs. Other exhibitors include Loganholme’s vacuum packaging firm VACPAC, Mansfield’s biodegradable packaging manufacturer Moda, and Brisbane’s Tynic Automation.
The Queensland Government will also have a presence, promoting the state’s manufacturing sector and available business support.
A highlight of the expo is the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) Awards of Excellence on 13 March, where the government is sponsoring the Sustainability Excellence Award. Assistant Minister Bruce Saunders will present the award, which recognises environmentally sustainable business practices.
Queensland’s Women in Manufacturing Strategy will also be in focus, with support for the Women in Packaging and Processing networking event.
Manufacturing contributes $20 billion annually to Queensland’s economy, and government officials say the expo is a key opportunity to showcase the state’s strengths.
