Queensland students begin NAPLAN testing

Around 280,000 Queensland students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 will begin their NAPLAN testing from 13 March, with the testing window running through to 25 March 2024. The online assessment, conducted across more than 1,800 state and non-state schools, provides valuable insight into student progress in core literacy and numeracy skills.

While NAPLAN results help inform future resourcing and intervention efforts, Education Minister Grace Grace reminded students that the test is just one part of the broader school assessment process. It is designed to provide a snapshot of student performance, not something to study for in advance.

Minister Grace also celebrated recent achievements, including a five percent rise in the number of Queensland state school students receiving A or B grades in English or Maths, and the best results on record for students obtaining their Queensland Certificate of Education. She thanked teachers, school staff, parents, and carers for their ongoing support.

The Minister encouraged students to relax, get a good night’s sleep, and focus on doing their best during the testing period.
