Queenslanders with disability and key stakeholders have shared their views on potential reforms at a Disability Reform Roundtable in Brisbane.
The roundtable discussed the Queensland Government’s proposed framework for responding to the findings of the Disability Royal Commission and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Review, both of which recommended significant changes to improve outcomes for people with disability.
A key focus was ensuring reforms are developed in partnership with people with disability, their families, and advocacy organisations. Participants also explored foundational supports needed outside the NDIS.
Disability Reform Ministers have issued a joint statement acknowledging the complexity of the reforms and confirming all governments will respond to the Royal Commission’s recommendations by mid-2024, beyond the original 31 March deadline.
