Over 100 Queenslanders have been recognised with Australia Day honours for their extraordinary contributions to the state and nation. Among them are two Queenslanders who were appointed Companions of the Order of Australia (AC), one of the highest national honours.
The recipients were announced by the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC. Among the notable honourees is Scientia Professor Megan Davis AC, recognised for her service to law, social justice, and Indigenous rights, and Honourable Justice James Edelman AC, honoured for his contributions to law, legal education, and the judiciary.
Other distinguished Queenslanders include Laurie Lawrence AO for his work in water safety education, Professor John Fraser AO for his contributions to critical care medicine, and Lloyd and Sure Clarke OAM for their service to domestic violence support.
Australia’s youngest Olympic gold medallist, Arisa Trew, received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her achievements at the Paris Games, alongside other gold medallists such as Emily Beecroft, Shayna Jack, and Cameron McEvoy.
Premier David Crisafulli congratulated the 101 honourees, praising their resilience and community service. The recipients will receive their awards in upcoming Investiture Ceremonies.
