QUEENSLANDERS looking for a career change are being encouraged to step into the classroom under a new State Government recruitment drive aimed at boosting the TAFE teaching workforce.
The Crisafulli Government has launched a $2 million campaign to attract experienced tradies, Australian Defence Force veterans and parents returning to work into vocational education and training roles across the state.
The initiative offers scholarships, traineeships and low-cost training to help aspiring educators complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the qualification required to teach in the TAFE sector.
Minister for Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, said the program aimed to harness the experience of skilled workers and support the next generation of apprentices and trainees.
“Tradies, skilled veterans and parents looking to return to work are the perfect candidates to draw on their years of experience, change careers and become a TAFE teacher,” Ms Bates said.
