Red tape slashed to support Queensland’s small business sector

The Crisafulli Government has today announced a renewed focus for the Queensland Small Business Commissioner to help slash red tape and support small and family businesses.

Delivering on a key commitment in the Government’s 100 Day Plan, the new Statement of Expectations will guide the Commissioner to consult with businesses and find practical ways to reduce regulatory burdens.

Premier David Crisafulli said the reforms were long overdue.
“These are the first steps to unleashing the true potential of small and family businesses here in Queensland,” he said.
“The LNP puts small and family businesses first, and we will do all we can to ensure they can get on with running their businesses without bureaucratic red tape.”

Dispute resolution will also be a priority, aimed at saving business owners time and money.

Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin said nearly 500,000 small and family businesses employ over one million Queenslanders.
“We want them to get on and operate in a business-friendly environment that fosters innovation and growth,” he said.

Commissioner Dominique Lamb added: “I want to make sure small businesses across all of Queensland have access to information, guidance and assistance that makes their lives easier.”
