THERE has been trouble on local roads this morning with two separate accidents reported just minutes apart in Beerwah, with one causing significant delays for the Friday morning run to the Sunshine Coast.
Earlier this morning a pushbike and car collided on Roberts Road, Beerwah at 8.43am. Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Police Service (QPS) were on the scene, with QAS reporting a stable patient with minor injuries was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital. QPS Beerwah later advised that footage reviewed indicated the driver of the vehicle was not at fault.
Around the same time this morning, a car towing a caravan has flipped heading north on the Bruce Highway around Beerwah, with QAS reporting four patients were transported in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The single-vehicle accident occurred near Roys Road at 8:44am, with diversions in place at Johnston Road.
One lane of the highway has been closed and traffic continues to remain backed up, with QPS advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.
After remaining a crawl for several hours as a result of the accident on the Bruce Highway, Steve Irwin Way has since returned to its usual flow of traffic.
