GLASS Housing 55 and Caloundra Community Centre Inc will be hosting an information session with Better Together Housing in Beerwah next Monday, November 8.
The session is designed to combat housing security and help women over the age of 55 find shared accommodation in a safe and secure way.
The session is best suited for women who own or rent their own homes but are interested in finding another woman to share it with, or simply for women looking for a place to stay and prefer to do so with one or more other women.
Viki Blaik from Glass Housing 55 said these sessions are a way for women to meet other like-minded individuals.
“We usually have a lot of difficulty contacting these women so this is all about just making contact and helping them to feel safe to talk about any issues they may be facing,” she said.
“With older women they’re very cautious of who they live with and safety is a big issue. We find however that if two women can get to know each other over a length of time that’s convenient to them then it makes it much easier to find the right person to live with,” Viki said.
This is the first Better Together Housing information session to be held in the region, however the program has been popular in Nambour since its inception.
The session will be held from 10am – midday at The Hub, 32 Sportsground Drive, Beerwah.
This is a free event and morning tea will be provided. Contact Viki on 0412 034 132 for more information.
