POLICE have quashed rumours that a Beerwah State High School student was found with knives and a list of names following the discovery of a scrawled message in a bathroom threatening to “stab everyone”.
Police were called to BSHS yesterday after an image of the message reportedly found inside a female bathroom stating “Im gonna stab everyone on 6/2/25”, was posted on social media prompting concerned parents to contact the school.
Queensland Police attended the school at about 8am on Thursday.
A rumour later started circulating about a student being found with weapons and a list of names, however police sources today (Friday) said that this was false.
The police investigation has now been completed and that there is no ongoing danger to students or staff, GC&M News was told.
A Department of Education spokesperson told GC&M News that they took any threats towards staff and students “extremely seriously, and dealt with as a matter of priority”.
“The department can confirm the Queensland Police Service attended Beerwah State High School to speak with staff in response to a written threat,” the spokesperson said.
“There were no lockdown or incidents at the school, and police have advised that there is no immediate danger to students or staff.
“Guidance Officer support is available for any students who may require it.”
It is understood that no student has been suspended over the graffiti.
BSHS deputy principal Scott Siddell issued a letter to parents yesterday confirming police were at the school after the discovery of the written threat.
“Given the nature of the threat and precautionary measures put in place QPS gave the all clear for classes to go ahead,” he wrote.
“Rest assured the safety and welfare of your children and our staff is our utmost priority.”
