A serious multi-vehicle collision has left six people injured, with two patients requiring emergency extrication, emergency services reported today (July 21).

The accident, which occurred on Steve Irwin Way near the Puma Service Station involved two vehicles and prompted a significant emergency response.

Multiple rescue crews, including up to five ambulance emergency response teams, were dispatched to the scene. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed all six patients were stabilised at the scene and transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Initial reports indicated two individuals were trapped within their vehicles, with one patient experiencing potentially life-threatening injuries necessitating helicopter medical evacuation on standby.
