Sponsorship program to support events

HINTERLAND Tourism Sunshine Coast has launched a new event sponsorship program to support festivals, events, and experiences that contribute to growth in the Hinterland visitor economy.

The program provides a clear, transparent framework for event organisers to apply for sponsorship, with funding decisions focused on measurable tourism outcomes such as visitation, overnight stays, and regional economic impact.

Wayne Parcell PSM, President of Hinterland Tourism (HT) Sunshine Coast, said the initiative represents a strategic reinvestment of funds contributed by members.

“This program is about putting our members’ contributions back to work in a way that benefits the Hinterland as a whole,” Mr Parcell said.

“Events are key to attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and showcasing all that the Hinterland has to offer.

This framework ensures we support the right events, in the right way, with clear expectations and accountability.”

Sunshine Coast Division 5 Councillor Winston Johnston OAM, a long-time supporter of events including The Montville Timber Trail, The Rangebow Festival, the Maleny Wood Expo, and Sculpture on The Edge, welcomed the announcement.

“It’s fantastic to see additional funding being offered to market the magic of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Applications to the program will be assessed against published criteria, and funded events must report on outcomes after delivery, ensuring consistency, transparency, and value for money.

The program aligns with HT’s broader objectives of encouraging sustainable visitation, dispersing visitors across the region, and creating opportunities for local businesses.
