MALENY District Sport and Recreation Club will shine a spotlight on sporting excellence and community opportunity when it hosts its 2025 Annual General Meeting later this month, headlined by Olympic archery medallist Ryan Tyack as a special guest speaker.
The AGM will be held at the MDSRC Clubhouse on April 30, with members invited to gather from 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
Alongside formal proceedings, the evening promises to inspire, with Tyack sharing his journey from a self-described gaming enthusiast to representing Australia on the world stage.
The Nambour local, who is actively involved with Sunshine Coast Archery and Archery Australia, is also expected to outline plans and possibilities for introducing archery to Maleny and the wider Hinterland.
Members will also hear from Dr Ken Wishaw, Secretary of the Brisbane Astronomical Society, who has played a key role in establishing the Sunshine Coast Dark Sky Reserve.
His presentation will highlight Maleny’s growing importance as a hub for public education and awareness around dark sky preservation.
The AGM will include the election of office bearers, with positions vacant for President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, along with three management committee roles.
Club officials are encouraging strong member participation, describing the meeting as an important opportunity to shape the future of sport and recreation in the Maleny district.
