GLASSHOUSE Country Men’s Shed benefited in a big way when the Sunshine Coast Council delivered numerous large logs weighing up to a ton each to the Glasshouse Country Men’s Shed. This came about when shed member Dave Logsdale spoke to council removing trees along Steve Irwin Way and was advised to contact Joe at the local council depot. Joe and Dave then initiated the procurement of a few smaller logs for the shed. Upon visiting the following day, Joe received an informal tour of the shed by members Sandy Woodside and Rick Canhan. The shed was soon to take delivery of a newly purchased milling machine (via a grant) which is why they were looking for logs in the first place. Joe said when the guys learned the logs were going to the Men’s Shed, they were excited and pleased the logs would be put to good use within the community. Glasshouse Country Men’s Shed is a not-for-profit organisation, with much of the supplies they receive coming from within the local community via donations or purchased with funds from either donations and/or grants, which enables the shed to operate.
The shed would like to publicly thank the Sunshine Coast Council for its ongoing support, and trusts this will continue into the future.
