Sunshine Coast Council Festive Season Services Update

Sunshine Coast Council will maintain a variety of essential services for residents and visitors throughout the festive season, with some adjustments to operating hours. Others will remain available to support and safeguard the community as we head into 2025.

Waste Collection
Kerbside waste, garden organics, and recycling collections will continue as usual, including on public holidays. Resource recovery facilities will close on Christmas Day but will otherwise operate as normal.

Customer Contact
Council will provide 24/7 support for emergencies through its after-hours emergency call centre at 5475 7272. Customer service counters will have adjusted hours, closing early on Christmas Eve and remaining closed on public holidays. Email inquiries will be reviewed for urgent matters during the holiday period.

Development Services
Development Information Services appointments at City Hall will pause from December 23 and resume on January 2, 2025.

Beach Patrols and Aquatic Centres
Professional lifeguards will patrol major beaches on weekdays and several others on weekends, complemented by volunteer surf lifesavers. Aquatic centres will close on Christmas Day, with reduced hours on Boxing Day.

Libraries, Galleries, and Museums
Libraries will close on public holidays but remain accessible otherwise, with early closures on December 24 and 31. Cultural sites like Bankfoot House, Landsborough Museum, and Caloundra Regional Gallery will close on public holidays but operate on other days.

Venues
Venue 114 and community spaces will close from December 20 and reopen on January 2, 2025. The Event Centre will host its final 2024 event on December 20 and reopen for performances on January 9, 2025.

Animal Pound and Cemetery Services
The Sippy Creek Animal Pound and Kulangoor Cemetery counter will adjust hours around public holidays, with emergency services available throughout the period.
