A free public information session examining the impacts of modern communications technology on human health will be held at the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday, July 4, from noon to 4pm.
The event, titled Technology: From Helpful Tool To Totalitarianism – Human Health Held Hostage, will feature presentations by researcher Dr Julie McCredden and former government radiation safety officer Victor Leach. Afternoon tea will be provided.
Dr McCredden will discuss research into wireless radiation and its reported effects on human health, including findings from a recent study co-authored with researcher Lyn McLean and Professor Anne Steinemann and published in the journal Next Research.
According to the study, a significant number of adults in Australia, the United States and Canada report experiencing adverse health symptoms they associate with exposure to wireless technologies, including mobile phones and WiFi systems.
Reported symptoms include headaches, fatigue, insomnia, dizziness and difficulty concentrating.
