Two fun filled days of entertainment and a wedding

THE Maleny Show Society is set to welcome visitors to the 102nd Maleny Agricultural Show, to be held on May 30 and 31, with an expanded line-up of entertainment — and its first-ever wedding.
This year’s event promises a broad range of free attractions, from animal encounters to musical performances, alongside traditional crowd favourites.
Maleny Show Society secretary, Lois White, said the show remains one of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland’s major annual drawcards, offering a diverse experience for both patrons and exhibitors.
“Our line-up of free entertainment is second to none this year, with our Country Star Search Competition offering over $30,000 in cash and prizes and will be run over both days of the show,” Ms White said.
“Farmer Dave Graham is coming to the Maleny Show with his K9 superstar friends, as well as opportunities to get up close and personal with native wildlife and baby farm animals.
“All the show favourites are back, including fireworks, sideshow alley, woodchop and whipcracking.”
A new feature of the program is ‘The Outback Jack Spectacular Show’, to be held in the main ring on both nights, which Ms White said would bring a “taste of the outback stockman life to the city”.
Also joining the program is ‘The MeatMagics Show’, offering patrons the chance to learn about sausage making, meat cutting and other butchery and cooking skills.
But the standout attraction in 2025 is the show’s inaugural wedding!
A competition held last year awarded a couple a wedding package and the chance to tie the knot in the heart of the Maleny Show.
Matt and Meg, the winning couple, will exchange vows at 10.30am on Saturday, May 31, on the entertainment oval — and everyone is invited.
“Maleny is one of Queensland’s top wedding destinations, and the Show Society decided to showcase this at the upcoming Maleny Ag Show,” Ms White said.
“Matt and Meg will take their vows in front of family and friends, and of course all of you who attend the show – everyone is welcome.
“The happy couple will then spend the day at the show, taking in the sights and sounds of all things unique and wonderful to the Maleny Show.”
Division 5 councillor, Winston Johnston, said he was a huge supporter of the community event.
“This show brings together local community groups and not-for-profit organisations,” he said.
“They collaborate and deliver an event that supports these groups in building their capacity, attracting new members, and generating income, and educates the wider community on the importance of agriculture.”
Ms White said while organisers were eager to open the gates, staging the event had not been without its difficulties.
“Operational costs have been challenging, but the society is committed to hosting an event where rural pursuits and craftsmanship can be exhibited and celebrated,” she said.
“Livestock owners have faced many challenges in recent years, but many still attend our show to exhibit their stock.”
