THE Maleny Hospital Auxiliary has hailed its inaugural Heart of the Hinterland Gala Dinner as a resounding success, with an evening of community spirit, generosity and fundraising set to benefit patients at the Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Held before a strong crowd of supporters, the gala brought together local leaders, healthcare staff, businesses and residents united by a shared commitment to supporting the much-loved hinterland hospital.
Among the guests were Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli, Federal Member for Andrew Wallace, Medical Superintendent Dr Nichole Harch and Director of Nursing Kerry Ramsay.
Guests were welcomed with a glass of Chandon before enjoying a banquet prepared by Good2Eat, followed by homemade desserts created by Auxiliary volunteers. Members of the Maleny Apex Club donated their time to operate the cash bar and assist throughout the evening.
Mayor Natoli delivered an enthusiastic address highlighting the importance of community support for local healthcare, while a chair chat featuring Dr Harch and Auxiliary president Carole Lewis focused on the hospital’s services, the Auxiliary’s work and future fundraising priorities.
Master of Ceremonies Kim Kirkman entertained guests alongside his Sunny Strings band, while auctioneer Graham Gardiner helped drive spirited bidding during the live auction. Raffles also proved popular, adding to the night’s fundraising success.
Money raised will fund four new hospital air mattresses and an ice machine, equipment expected to improve patient comfort, particularly for those receiving palliative care.
The Maleny Hospital Auxiliary thanked the community, volunteers, sponsors and donors for their generosity and support, saying it hopes the Heart of the Hinterland Gala Dinner will become an annual event celebrating the region’s commitment to its local hospital.
