The Mirror

Written and contributed by Colin Harding

That mirror hanging on the wall

It’s been there long as I recall

What things has it always seen

The many events that have been.

It does not just review the face

It sees much more than just your grace

It also reflects within your eyes

The memories all undisguised.

You gaze at the old,old mirror

And from within your eyes

Memories begin to materialise

You suddenly see truth.

Your face is not what you truly are

It’s only the picture you don’t mar

Your real you is within the eyes

And now you see it-no surprise.

Within the eyes are truths- my view

Of words spoken, although untrue

Am I the one, people assume

Or am I the one I see in the gloom.

It’s good to view that mirror there

If you’re prepared your faults to bare

But do you want to know the facts

Or can we live without reacts.

The mirror sees so many things

It sees all of the happenings

And till it breaks, or loose it’s

lustre

It keeps its secrets for ever after.
