Trailers 2000 owes $2.67m to creditors

BEERWAH manufacturer Trailers 2000 collapsed owing creditors about $2.67 million, including the Tax Office, NAB and dozens of businesses and suppliers, before entering liquidation last month.

Documents lodged with ASIC by liquidators Pearce & Heers reveal Trailers 2000 owed $411,092 to the Australian Taxation Office and $771,063 to the NAB when it entered liquidation last month.

The liquidators’ report shows the company has estimated realisable assets of about $120,924. It also has stock with a book valuation of about $710,000 although liquidators said its realisable value was unknown.

A total of $2,669,185.40 is owed to all creditors.

NAB is listed as the company’s only secured creditor, leaving the remaining creditors to join the queue as unsecured creditors.

The documents also reveal significant intercompany debts, with Trailers 2000 owing $360,065 to its franchise arm Trailer2You Pty Ltd and $843,293 to Rent Then Buy Pty Ltd.

ASIC records show Trailers 2000 director James Stuart Daniels remains a director of Rent Then Buy Pty Ltd.Dozens of smaller unsecured creditors have also been swept into the collapse, including accounting firm Pitcher Partners, owed $47,464, trailer barbecue manufacturer Chill and Grill, owed $10,182, and a number of hinterland businesses owed amounts ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

The report states unpaid employee entitlements are also presently unknown.

The Beerwah-based company had manufactured and sold trailers nationally for almost three decades, including through major retail outlets.

Liquidators will report back to creditors as the winding up of the business continues.
