One of Australia’s busiest Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCC) is continuing to ease pressure on local emergency departments, with thousands of patients turning to the Morayfield service each month for treatment of urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.
Located at the Morayfield Health Hub on Dickson Road, the clinic treats a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, including fractures, sprains, sports injuries, cuts, burns, eye and ear injuries, infections, respiratory illnesses, urinary tract infections and gastroenteritis symptoms.
Previous figures released by the Morayfield UCC showed more than 18,000 patients were treated during the first three months of 2025 alone, with many patients indicating they would otherwise have attended a hospital emergency department.
The clinic forms part of the national Medicare Urgent Care Clinic network and has become one of the busiest services of its kind in Australia.
During a visit to the clinic last year, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the service as “already providing fast, quality care to the community and helping take pressure off local hospitals”.
“Urgent Care Clinics have seen around Australia over 1.2 million Australians get the health care they need when they needed it, and all they’ve needed is their Medicare card,” he said.
The service is designed for urgent medical issues that cannot wait for a routine GP appointment but are not serious enough to require emergency care.
Patients experiencing life-threatening conditions are still advised to call triple zero or attend their nearest emergency department.
Healthcare professionals at the clinic can provide services such as wound management, basic fracture treatment, IV fluids, abscess treatment and removal of foreign objects from ears and noses, helping patients receive timely care without attending a hospital emergency department.
The Morayfield clinic also offers access to on-site pathology, radiology and pharmacy services, allowing many patients to receive diagnosis and treatment in one location.
Facilities include X-ray, CT scans, ultrasound services and pathology collection.
The Morayfield Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at 19-31 Dickson Road, Morayfield and is open daily from 8am to 8pm. Bulk billing is available for Medicare card holders.
