BOOK lovers and political enthusiasts will have the opportunity to celebrate the launch of the Australia Institute’s new anthology, A Time for Bravery, when Voices of Fisher hosts a special author discussion at Eudlo Hall next month.
The event, In Conversation: A Time for Bravery, on Thursday, August 13, will feature Leanne Minshull, co-CEO of the Australia Institute and a contributor to the book, in conversation with Steven Lang from Outspoken Maleny.
The anthology brings together essays from prominent Australians exploring what it means to show courage in public life and how bravery can help shape the nation’s future.
The Australia Institute is an independent public policy think tank known for its research on housing, aged care, economics, energy policy and democratic integrity.
Ms Minshull is among the contributors, alongside former Liberal leader John Hewson, journalist Amy Remeikis, independent MP Sophie Scamps, economist Yanis Varoufakis and community leader Tim Costello.
During the evening, Ms Minshull and Mr Lang will discuss the ideas behind the book and what bravery looks like in Australia today.
Voices of Fisher organiser Sarah Wright said the event aimed to spark conversation about issues affecting the Fisher electorate.
“The Australia Institute’s book A Time for Bravery asks what it takes to stand up when it matters. That’s exactly the conversation we want to have in the Fisher electorate,” she said.
The event starts at 5.30pm at Eudlo Hall, 19 Rosebud street, on August 13. Tickets are $25, including a welcome drink and light refreshments.
