Volunteers offer support

THE housing crisis and increased  coast of living, along with impacts of
floods and the pandemic have led to
increased financial hardship, emotional stress and social isolation for many people in our community. The Glasshouse Country Welfare Network is made up of local Neighbourhood Centres, churches, RSLs and others, with most members volunteers.

The types of emergency relief and welfare supports vary between organisations ranging from food donations and vouchers, personal hygiene packs and Telstra vouchers to free or low-cost counselling. Other services also offer free support through some of the local groups such as the Free Pantry (21a Toorbul St, Landsborough), Orange Sky Laundry (free laundry and a cuppa) most Thursday mornings at the Glass House Mountains Neighbourhood Centre, Hair Aid (free haircuts by appointment) on Thursday mornings at the Morris House Neighbourhood Centre, Landsborough.
Morris House also provides the No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) for items such as car repairs and registrations, white goods and school student laptops.

Emergency Relief, plus information and referral to other support, is available at the Glass House Mountains, Morris House, and Maleny Neighbourhood Centres’ and Mooloolah and Caloundra Community Centres’.
