FEDERAL Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace has congratulated six local residents recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
Among those honoured was Maleny conservation scientist Dr Rebecca Spindler, who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to conservation science, wildlife reproduction research and biodiversity protection.
Also receiving AM honours was Kings Beach artist and educator Dr Hope O’Chin for her service to Indigenous communities.
Order of Australia Medals (OAM) were awarded to Shelly Beach conservationist Judith Crighton, Ilkley ceramic artist Jacqueline Gasson, Wurtulla photographer Neville Male and Montville community volunteer Christopher Symonds.
Mr Symonds was recognised for more than 50 years of volunteer service through Lions Clubs across Queensland. Mr Wallace said the honours reflected the exceptional talent and community spirit found across the Coast.
“Each recipient has dedicated themselves to making a positive difference in the lives of others,” he said.
