We all cheer in the same language

MINDING my own business Saturday morning I thought there must have been some sort of serious assault going on at the neighbours a few doors down.

Screaming and yelling in some strange language. It all died down then started up again.

What on earth was going on I wondered before the ‘assault’ turned to cheers and celebrating sounds.

Turns out I live near some Colombians and their team had just scored against Ghana in the World Cup.

Made me feel kind of almost multicultural.

Stop, go, sigh
Seems like every new technology must have an AI badge to go with it.

The latest was our Moreton Bay neighbours whose council has unleashed an AI-powered set of traffic lights.

Apparently the lights change based on noticing individual movements rather than the current way which is based on whatever mood they’re in at the time.

Whatever, it can’t be any worse.

But if AI could somehow ensure all incompetent and slow drivers stay on the left hand lane of the Bruce Highway, then it’d have my attention.

By the litter
Was having coffee in my local park the other day and someone came along and started picking up all the litter that people couldn’t be bothered putting in the bin.

Nice one, I initially thought. Except then he started telling anyone who walked by, myself included, how disgraceful all the litter bugs were and how could you possibly walk past without picking it up.

Because it’s gross, was my first thought.

My second was, well you can pick it up if you want to bro, but don’t drag me into it. Maybe I was in a bit of a mood and turned the wrong colour.
