MALENY’S newest residents received a warm community welcome on Sunday, October 19, as the Maleny Lions Club held their 20th Meet and Greet event at Tranquil Park.

Various local community groups and non-profi ts showcased everything on off er in the area, inviting new residents to learn, become involved and connect.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell, who was the aft ernoon’s MC, welcomed newcomers to the area.

“We punch well above our weight when it comes to community involvement and one of the reasons they host this aft ernoon is to encourage you to become part of the community factor as well,” he said.

Montville resident Wayne Parcell was the day’s guest speaker, having shared his own experience of joining a new community when he fi rst moved to the area.

“There’s some fantastic clubs and associations here, full of incredibly decent, hardworking, committed people, who can do with some additional, healthy resource novelties,” he said.

“Community is really important and they will be there for you when you least expect.

“Don’t live a small life.”
