WE are extraordinarily fortunate to live in a region that pulses with creative energy. From our musicians filling local venues with live music through groups such as Glasshouse Musos and Club Acoustic, to actors and artists treading the boards at the Maleny Community Centre and The Playhouse, creativity is woven into the fabric of our community.
Writers, painters, ceramicists, photographers, performers and festival organisers all contribute to a rich cultural landscape that makes our region a special place to live.
The arts are not an optional extra. They are fundamental to what it means to be human. Music, theatre, visual arts, literature and live performance enrich our lives, help us understand the world around us, and bring people together across generations, backgrounds and beliefs.
Whether it’s Open Studios, the Maleny Music Festival, Rangebow, the magic of Woodford Folk Festival, or smaller creative ventures or performances at local markets, community halls, pubs and venues such as Maleny Lane, these events do far more than entertain.
They inspire creativity, strengthen social connections, support local initiative and business and contribute to the
vibrant, resilient communities we are proud to call home.
Behind every concert, exhibition, reading, workshop and festival stands a dedicated network of organisations, volunteers and artists. Groups such as Arts Connect, Red Chair, the Maleny Players, the Maleny Singers, the Beerwah Writers Group, Maleny Film Society, local craft collectives and countless independent creatives invest enormous passion, talent and effort into enriching our cultural life. Their contributions deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
