A 23-YEAR-old man who fell 6-8 meters from Mount Tibrogargan on December 29 underwent a helicopter rescue, after sustaining head, back and pelvic abrasions and bruising.
QAS acting Operational Supervisor Rene Grenfell said the man was winched from the mountain summit and airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Grenfell noted this was one of many falls from Mount Tibrogargan this year, and suggested tips to keep climbers safe this summer holidays.
“I’d advise people to be prepared, wear suitable footwear, take plenty of fluids, its not that hot at the moment but its very humid though so you do sweat a lot,” she said.
“Also wear some protective rain gear if its raining and make sure you tell people where you are going and what time you expect to return, try to travel with a friend as well.”
