As 2024 draws to a close, Zonta Club of Blackall Range reflects on another incredible year of service, advocacy, and community connection.
The Club’s members have been constantly active to advance the status of women and girls locally and globally, making meaningful change through their work.
Diana Bryce’s community contributions were celebrated as a local Woman of Achievement; hundreds of birthing kits were provided to reduce mother and child mortality rates in vulnerable populations; youth leadership and scholarship were recognised with awards to high school and tertiary students; and important community services received essential financial donations. Zonta’s collaboration in Speak Up Now – Stop Domestic and Family Violence, also supported activities to educate and create safe spaces for open discussion about thriving communities.
Zonta’s key fundraisers achieve enthusiastic community engagement, including an inaugural Trivia Night, Hinterland Business Directory publication, and regular plant stalls in Maleny.
Zonta’s members also enable the organisation’s global projects, with remarkable Judi Ross-Smith recently recognised with a Zonta Foundation for Women donor pin.
Judi has been an active Zontian for over 40 years, with a decade in the Blackall Range Club. She has held Club President positions, and global roles, including Vice Chairman of the International PR Committee. Judi’s sustained dedication to community service is an inspiration!
Looking ahead, Zonta Blackall Range Club President, Margy Henderson says “we are committed to continuing our work to create a more equitable and inclusive world, and making a difference in the lives of women and girls, both here on the Range and beyond.”
The club’s first fundraiser for 2025 is their hilarious Almost Valentine Trivia Night, on 15 February at Maleny RSL Hall. For more information and tickets, call Lynelle on 0429 629 125.
