Calling on all carers to share their wisdom

Contributed by Jody Blackburn

GLASSHOUSE Country Carers Group are local women and men who have found friendship and support through our shared experience of caring for a loved one.

Our mission is to connect with all carers in Glasshouse Country.  We aim to do this by offering a welcoming space that supports our individual and collective wellbeing – where we can relax, chat and laugh together over a cuppa.  We also share information and resources about support services and other topics relevant to the carer journey.  People who have recently lost their loved one they cared for are also welcome to come along to our gatherings, to share their wisdom and experiences.  In fact, carers of all ages, backgrounds and circumstances are invited to join us as they feel they’d like to. As valuable community members, we wish to strengthen the connection between carers and increase our visibility and participation in our local communities. We are also keen to connect with other local carer’s groups on the Sunshine Coast. We meet at 10am on the second Thursday of each month at a local cafe.  Call Margaret on 0423 231 423 for more details.
