POLAIR choppers taking off

THREE state-of-the-art Bell 429 helicopters will join the POLAIR fleet patrolling southeast Queensland next month, expanding the fleet from two to three aircraft.
This investment enhances police aerial capabilities, including improved safety, technology, and night vision.
The new helicopters will assist in tracking vehicles, arresting offenders, and locating missing persons.
The expansion is part of a broader state plan to boost police aerial capabilities in Townsville, Cairns/Far North, and the Sunshine Coast/Wide Bay regions.
Queensland premier Steven Miles, said this is part of the Community Safety Plan backed with $1.3 billion of funding, to let people feel safe at home.
“My plan will deliver more police, more resources and better police infrastructure because that’s what Police saw will make a difference,” he said.
