Direct rail case finalised

By Kirra Livingstone

THE $14 million business case into the suitability of constructing the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line (DSCRL) has been completed.
Upon completion in late December, it has now been handed on to the state and federal government for consideration. A Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said both governments undergo a detailed process to approve a project.
“Business cases include information that is commercial in confidence which if released prematurely or in-full, could influence commercial negotiations during a tender process,” they said.
The federal government allocated $1.6 billion towards the DSCRL in their recent review of the infrastructure pipeline, which the state government acknowledges.
It is unclear when the findings will be made public.
