Maleny Skatepark renewal project

WEATHER and site conditions permitting, construction is expected to start early 2025 on the Maleny Skate Park Renewal project.
Council is currently working through the revised detailed plans.
A Council spokesperson confirmed that Council engaged with the Maleny community in September 2023 seeking feedback to help shape the Maleny Skate Park Renewal project.
“The final design specifics will continue to be refined to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for our community,” the spokesperson said.
“The proposed layout will improve viewing opportunities and increase passive surveillance from parents and spectators.
The Council spokesperson said the project would fill a much-needed shortfall in providing teens with play areas, both directly as an opportunity to play and also providing them a safe area to watch what’s going on and to socialise.
“Participation from a wider demographic can often improve skills, through first being able to observe others, assess required skill levels, social cues and interactions before deciding to join in and committing to the basic skills of skate boarding or scootering or more complicated tricks in public,” they said.
The final design will also complement the new half pipe which was completed early December 2023 and is already well received by the local community.
“We will continue to keep the community updated on the final design and construction timing.”
