Mooloolah’s passion for op shop fashion

STRAP on your high heels, dress to the nines, and come on down to not Paris Fashion Week, but the Mooloolah Op Shop Moo Lah Lah Fashion Parade!
This locally based fashion forward night will display the best of the Op Shop’s donations they receive year in and year out, from brands such as Table Eight, Kitten D’Amour and David Smith, and even wedding attire.
Mooloolah Valley Community Association secretary, Vicki Morrison, said it’s the first time the Op Shop has hosted a fashion show in years. She said she and the whole op shop and committee volunteers are very excited to be a part of this fashion parade.
“We are hoping to make it a good fun afternoon, attendees will be able to buy the garments being showcased as well as there will be other items for sale like accessories, shoes and jewellery,” she said.
“We can showcase the more exclusive and label lines that we get in, the models are going to be all volunteers, some of our op shop volunteers and some friends of volunteers.
“This is a way to market our more up market boutique style garments that we get donated and we want to stress these are all donated.”
Vicki added that the funds raised from the items purchased at the fashion parade will go straight back into the community.
“We do a combination of things in the local community, we sponsor the chappies at Eudlo, Mooloolah and Glenview and the local soccer club,” she said.
“We recently donated to the Eudlo Fire Brigade, and funds will go back into our welfare program we run, to provide food and fuel vouchers to people in need.”
Along with your tickets, you will have a chance to win the lucky door prize, and on top of enjoying the volunteer run fashion parade, there will be trivia games throughout the afternoon too.
The event will be held at the Mooloolah Public Hall on April 20 from 3-5pm. Tickets are $10 which covers a glass of bubbles and nibbles, to purchase visit the Mooloolah Valley Op Shop.
