Plans revealed for old ‘Moby Vic’s’ servo

THE old ‘Moby Vics’ service station is set to be super-sized in a multi million-dollar redevelopment of the site in plans just lodged with council.

A new development application for the Glass House Mountains site on the corner of the Bruce Highway and Johnston Rd was lodged with the Sunshine Coast Council on behalf of developer De Luca Corporation this week.

The three-stage proposal includes plans to double the amount of refuelling stations and the addition of new food and drink outlets to the site.

When completed, the development will allow for 103 car parking spaces, 16 refuelling stations, seven truck parking spaces, three truck refuel positions and two caravan parking spaces.

Earlier this year De Luca’s said the development would turn the service station, founded in the late 1980s by Vic Walker, into “state-of-the-art centres and truck stops”.

To be developed over three stages, the first will be the redevelopment of the service stations, followed by food and drink tenancies in stage two and three as well as car parking and landscaping, according to the DA application.

The new service stations will include covered forecourts for eight doubled-sided car fuel pumps, three truck fuel pumps and three food and drink outlets with double lane drive-thru facilities.

While the existing entry of the highway will remain, new entry/exits are proposed on Johnston road, while other existing entries and exits will be closed.
