SOS… Art meets the Environment

Well-KNOWN Montville artist Jim Cox and Reesville author Elaine Green have long been friends, and have recently combined their creativity showcased in the exhibition ‘SOS..Save our Species’.

It will be held at Mary Cairncross Reserve Gallery, Mountain View Road, Maleny from July 16-31, from 10am–2pm. A book of the same name will be launched alongside the artwork, with both asking the public to look at this crisis from a different viewpoint.

Jim spent Covid isolation imagining how to help save our species by creating 24 artworks of selected        animals, imagining them in military formation and raging against our activities that threaten their survival. Despite the serious intent of these works, they are beautiful, colourful and playful, ranging from caricature to realism. Elaine has totally synced with Jim’s work having written words ‘from’ each animal as if they were talking.

Australian animals are totally unique to this land. After only 230 years of our arrival they are now at risk of extinction.

A program where local environmentalists will be present to talk about their contributions to addressing this crisis, and how you may assist,  will be available through Jim’s website www.jim-cox-montville.com
