Take it from Merv and get tested!

AUSTRALIAN Cricket legend Merv Hughes understands that for Aussie males, one of the hardest things to do is sit down and talk about problems, but that’s exactly what he did with CPAP Direct when his snoring got a little out of control.

The importance of not letting symptoms go unchecked was not lost on Merv, which is why CPAP Direct have teamed up with Merv for the month of Mervember, with plenty of specials running throughout the month of November, including the chance to win one of ten autographed cricket bats from the man himself.

Merv admittedly always knew he had a snoring problem, but after having a home sleep study with CPAP Direct, he found out that he in fact stopped breathing 76 times per hour during his sleep!

Merv was part of the 80% of people that suffer from sleep apnea that were still undiagnosed. Thanks to the correct setup, fitting and the use of a sleep apnea machine, now Merv sleeps comfortably at night.

Hear from Merv about his struggle with snoring here.

Gone are the days of bulky, noisy CPAP machines, with advances in technology meaning machines are smaller, quieter, more compact and more comfortable. CPAP Direct have a wide range of machines available offering customers that chance to hire before you buy, to ensure you’re comfortable with your machine. The friendly, professional and knowledgeable clinicians are on hand to provide advice and assist from first enquiry right through to fitting, adjustment purchase and support.

If you’re worried or curious about your sleep patterns, you can even jump online and complete an easy online check up tool.

CPAP Direct’s managing director Bryce Perron shared that Merv’s own story highlights the importance for everyday Australians to get checked if they’re experiencing signs of sleep apnea.

“Snoring, tiredness and frequent toileting are the three main symptoms which may indicate OSA,” Bryce said.

“It’s believed that up to 50 per cent of males over the age of 40 likely to have some form of sleep apnea, but it’s not just a diagnosis for males, with women also experiencing OSA.

“If you think you may have a concern, speak to us and we can provide you with a referral to have an authorised in-home sleep study conducted.”

For the chance to win a signed Merv Hughes cricket bat with the purchase of your CPAP device in November, make sure to register your entry by November 30.
