The very first Beerwah Skate Comp had a stellar opening, with a turnout of more than 80 competitors competing in skateboarding, rollerblading and scooter-riding.
Skate comp organiser Grace Kwarcianyi said the age groups included under 9’s, under 12’s, under 15’s and open 16’s plus for the three disciplines, with one competitor doing particularly well on the day.
“One kid Hudson came first in skateboarding for under 9’s and under 12’s and 2nd for under 15’s.” she said.
And of course, the organizers Grace and brother Izaac Kwarcianyi, had to compete in the competition as well.
Grace came 1st in rollerblading in her division, whereas Izaac came 5th in skateboarding in his division.
Grace Kwarcianyi said the turnout of girl competitors was better than anticipated.
Grace and Izaac said they hoped to bounce off the success of the inaugural competition with a tournament later in the year or in early 2023.
