Smart Pups fur love and money

By Kirra Livingstone

SMART Pups long term foster carer, Sharon Chapman, is driving a fundraising campaign to support Smart Pups.
Sharon visited a number of Glasshouse Country Chamber of Commerce businesses with Division 1 Councillor, Jenny Broderick, on April 19, including Glasshouse Country and Maleny News.
“There’s 30 dogs in the program and it costs $150 to groom each one, it’s $4500 over the winter months, so we are hoping to raise some funds to cover the cost,” Sharon said. Sharon’s current Smart Pup, Guy, is ten months old with just a few months left of specialist training, until he is given away to a special needs child.
Smart Pups is an important service for children with special needs, which Sharon said gives children a greater independence.
“The children’s lives change dramatically, they start socialising more, and their anxiety and stress goes down,” she said.
